ASL Trio!?
Hey fam!!
So P-Day was moved from Monday to Tuesday this week because of MLK day, but then on Tuesday it started snowing so the libraries closed, and yesterday we were up in Clinton, MS for Zone Conference so now I get to finally email!!
-So yes, it snowed again here in Mississippi, this just doesn't happen guys. It wasn't as much snow as last month but it got SUPER COLD.
-AND YES!! Yo girl's learning sign language!! It's not official or anything, but we have a recent convert in our branch who is deaf, and we want to be able to help him and teach him, but you know... language/sound barrier, so we made the decision to learn sign language!! We're getting pretty good at it not going to lie haha. We have been practicing all week on each other, so hopefully we can meet up a lesson with him soon and show off our new skillz!
-This past Friday we went to Alexis's house for dinner (our Friday night ritual) and she had President Cothern come over and give her 2 girls blessings! It was a pretty cool experience because her daughter Deja has down syndrome, and she has a hard time being quiet, listening, and communicating..so we weren't sure how well it was going to turn out. But she sat in her little chair and stayed quiet for the whole thing, and right when President Cothern said "Amen" she jumped back up her her normal self and started screaming again haha! It was pretty neat.
-We also went to Magee, MS and tried to visit some more less active members in that area. Their was a lady who we have been trying to find for WEEKS and our GPS kept taking us to the wrong place! I was determined to find this lady, so we drove around trying to find her apartment complex, and I see a small hidden road behind this house, so I drove down it and her apartment complex was there! We went in and visited with her, and she opened up about her life and explained how she has been going through a rough time, and she was thinking about the church and she just KNEW that we were going to knock on her door! This lady hasn't even been to church in like 20 years!! It was awesome.
-Also this past Sunday we went up to the Florence Ward to watch a special broadcast that Elder Bednar and some other people gave to the Southeastern States, and they talked all about temples and repentance!! It was great. One lady even went up to talk and she gave the South a shout out by mentioning "grits" and used the word "y'all" and "fixin' to"...I don't have that southern grammar yet...maybe in another year I'll catch on.
-On Monday we had FHE with the Butler family, and I think I pee'd my skirt laughing so hard. Ok..maybe that was a bit dramatic but I was definatly crying I was laughing so hard. We baked 2 batches of cookies, one really good batch, and one batch we used salt instead of sugar. We related it to recognizing good from evil. But I was dying out laughing because Brandon picked up a salty cookie and tried to suck it up by eating it all because he didn't want to offend us...poor guy...those cookies were disgusting.
-ALSO I SAW THE WILLIAMS GIRLS THIS PAST WEEK! Brooklyn needed us to answer some questions about being a missionary for a school project, so we weer in a little mini interview with her, and I got to see my BFF's (: Love that family!!
-We also have a huge district this transfer!! We are in a trio, and the Richland Elders are in a trio, and we also have 3 other sets of missionaries, it's a party during District Meetings haha-even though most of us live in isolation.
-Yesterday we had our Jackson Zone Conference and man, this Zone is full of Elders..their are only 3 sets of Sisters in this whole Zone, but it was fun!! It was postponed and shortened because of the bad weather, but we learned a lot about the new smartphones that we will be getting next transfer! We are so excited! It is going to be so weird.
-Also PROPHET RUSSELL M. NELSON!? The broadcast that they had when they announced the new First Presidency of the church was awesome!! Watch it if you haven't already!! I LOVE THE PROPHET! Their is no denying that he is a man called of God!
Wow okay sorry this was a super long one, but It's been almost like 2 weeks since I've emailed haha.
Love y'all!! Talk to you on Monday!!
XoXo,
Sister Hunt
